Sarre is right in the centre of the region, nearby Aosta and only few kilometres from the highest peaks in Europe. The village expands from the river up to Mont Fallère at 3061 meters.

Signs of the past are all around the territory. You might start your tour by the Parish Churches of Saint-Maurice and Saint-Eustache, in Chesallet, continue up to Oveillan to admire the 18th century chapel and some examples of traditional architecture, among which is the ancient water mill. After driving through Ville-sur-Sarre go for a drive on the panoramic road named Route des Salasses which used to link Sarre to the Great San Bernard valley in the Pre-Roman age.

If you reach the village of Thouraz you could set off riding with a horse or with your mountain bike, a look at the chapel and then up across the meadows towards Mont Fallère.

In Bellon there is a pick nick area where to get some fresh air. The area Sources du Rouet is named after the water spring accessible through an easy track.

It's time to think about you physical well-being: let's go to the swimming pool and then some sauna or steam bath.

Of course you need to spend some time inside the enchanting Royal Castle. The castle dates back to the 12th century even if its actual size is more recent. In 1869 the king Vittorio Emanuele II bought the building. He used to come very often and go hunting to Cogne, Rhêmes e Valsavarenche.

His successor, the king Umberto I , had the lounge and the gallery decorated with 3612 horns from all the chamois and ibexes hunted.

In summer the castle hosts the International Festival of Sarre: music, dance and theatre in a magic atmosphere.
